The last of nine district courthouses of the Cherokee Nation, the Saline District Courthouse was constructed between 1884 and 1889. Although located in a remote area, evidence shows a larger community existed here where the Courthouse was built. The main obstacles in protecting this historic site are its isolated location,
lack of funding and rapid deterioration.
